@chrishubbs.com To be clear this wasn’t a little cup of au jus for dipping; they basically ladle a scoop of the stuff over your sandwich and then, as I recall, dump the excess off your plate and back into the pot.

@dandb Yeah it doesn’t get better. You’ve already read the part that makes sense.

@joshuapsteele Oh, yeah, I remember those days. The DST transition sucks with small kids.

@joshuapsteele DST has your back… extra hour of sleep tonight!

@chrishubbs.com I like the live TV listing grid on Hulu better. Haven’t gotten much deeper than that yet.

@ReaderJohn @ablerism I remember being 12 years old and listening to an NPR show review and contrast multiple recordings of Vespers, including the Robert Shaw Chorale version. It’s been a favorite ever since.

@chrishubbs.com Yeah already for a confused message from my MIL who has YTTV and couldn’t watch Good Morning America this morning. Hopefully they get it resolved today.

@chrishubbs.com Yeah, Hulu has TNT/TBS/TruTV. I’ve been tempted toward Fubo, who is another streaming player in this game, and who has Marquee (yay Cubs!) but they don’t have TNT/TBS.

@chrishubbs.com Last time I checked, yes. Hulu is owned by Disney, which means they have the combined package that is Hulu / Disney+ / ESPN.

@joshuapsteele I’m not sure if I like it or agree with it or not, but… he’s making valid arguments. So far he’s like an Irish Wendell Berry if WB had grown up around the internet and had been a Wiccan in a previous life.

@patrickrhone Yup! And the evangelicals would say yes, but it turns out they’ve redefined those terms so much that their “love of neighbor” is all judgment and control, with fear their great motivator.

So glad to be out of that game.

@patrickrhone Wow thanks for sharing that. My current path has me in the Episcopal church after 40 years deep in fundamentalist evangelicalism. Trying to follow Jesus, and he wasn’t back there.

@todd Coincidentally, I am also reading that Kingsnorth book right now. So many thoughts.

@Mtt “Best” is a big word… I’ve got a Keychron C2 with Keychron Red switches that’s my daily driver. Love it.

@ablerism Wow, that’s quite a resource. Thanks for sharing it!

@kevinmkruse.bsky.social Yep, for sure. Having been a church pianist for 30+ (yikes) years, I’ve been there. If you have the opportunity for tasteful riffing and improvising as you work your way into it, you can sort of gently feel out pitches sometimes, too. But sure helps if you can just play in whatever key you need to.

@kevinmkruse.bsky.social I mean, it was tragically at a funeral, but it was magical and electric at the same time.

@kevinmkruse.bsky.social I immediately go back to Obama at Clementa Pinckney’s funeral. I was watching it live and just begging for the organist to fire up… then he did.

@kevinmkruse.bsky.social Have you considered getting an organist to accompany you on a Hammond B3?

@chrishubbs.com I’ll have to give that a try!

@drose Yes. Hoping for a similar day here today after a lot of driving and sitting yesterday.

Still, yesterday:

Iowa: W
Nebraska: W
Daughter: W at speech contest… pretty great!

@chrishubbs.com She’s done a lot of mock trial and National History Day performance work, but the school is just rebooting the speech and debate team this year. She’s a good writer and memorizer but I’m kinda surprised how effectively she can do extemp.

@chrishubbs.com It has taken me 5 years outside of it, some good therapy, and some healthy non-evangelical community to get me to the point where I can finally see it and name it. Very thankful I finally can.
