@jocelynl.bsky.social Sometimes a derecho like that just destroys so much infrastructure it takes time to rebuild. In 2020, we in (very white) Cedar Rapids, IA were without power for almost 2 weeks after a similar storm knocked out everything. It might be climate change, too, not just racism.

@ReaderJohn I dunno, man. The Democratic party has been largely ineffective for most of my lifetime, and I’m almost 50. Why do I want their smoke-filled rooms to perpetuate that? DSA’s at least willing to name real problems and stand up and fight.
