@granades.com If there’s one thing I’ve learned from my wife’s cast iron work over the past couple years, it’s not to expect that a hobby can suddenly turn into a profit center. They call it a labor of love for a reason, I guess.
@karanslade.bsky.social A chariot of fire and then bears… sounds like you might have a prophet on the loose. What’s next on Elisha’s timeline?
@bcbsara.bsky.social Feels like one of those games where you wish they could just mutually agree to invoke a mercy rule and end early. Cubs might pitch a position player before they’re done, too.
@drose I decided finally to start alternating weights with my running… yesterday was my first lifting day. Definitely need a run today to loosen things back up.
@sethdmichaels.bsky.social The point of having two missile keys….
@patrickrhone Such a massive loss, not just to the music world, but to us all. Her Imagination Library program has given away over 300 million books to young readers. Amazing.
@drose The Pacific Northwest! I got a job with Boeing earlier this year with the agreement we’d move out to the Seattle area after the youngest graduates.
@chrishubbs.com Heh I’m not sure. I mean, I’m excited for her senior year. She’s worked very hard and it’s paying off. But life is sure gonna change.
@drose It’s going to be a busy year for us - we will be moving halfway across the country after she graduates in May - but I don’t want to speed through it and miss the experience. Every day has its own joy.
@joshuapsteele We have one. My wife made the choice on what to get, so I don’t have any background on its relative value vs other brands, but I’ve used it on occasion and it’s very nice.
@leemc.bsky.social I dunno… we include it in the creed every week at my Episcopal church.
@chrishubbs.com I did end up reading books 2 and 3. They were solid. Not my favorite fantasy series ever, but worth the time to read it.
@bencollins.bsky.social This is the Ken Ham (Answers In Genesis) response. Ham’s follow-up is that God was there, and God told us about it in the Bible, so we should believe what the Bible says about it. (which of course he says means humans and dinosaurs were co-habitants)
@jocelynl.bsky.social Agree it could be both. Your intial post just suggested that 1 wk w/o power wouldn’t happen in a majority white town, and I was pointing out that it already has. If there is a significant racial corellation to the recovery effort, that’s not good.
@misty.granades.com Good god, yes
@samthielman.com If somebody were gonna plan a sneak attack on us, they would just need to schedule it for about two days after the next GTA release date…
@jocelynl.bsky.social Sometimes a derecho like that just destroys so much infrastructure it takes time to rebuild. In 2020, we in (very white) Cedar Rapids, IA were without power for almost 2 weeks after a similar storm knocked out everything. It might be climate change, too, not just racism.
@jeremymdoan.info She’s having a bit of a busy summer… guess she wanted to get all the work in before having a baby?
@amerpie Raising that young man right.
@adamprocter My one visit to India was certainly an experience. Here’s hoping you have smooth travel and a great time.
@zo-e.xyz I’m gonna guess “tripping”
@joshuapsteele @patrickrhone Went for a run before sunrise on Monday and was completely saturated about 2 miles in. So gross. Today I will go run at the gym instead.
@alissawilkinson.bsky.social Excellent
@alissawilkinson.bsky.social I wanna make a dad joke like “schadenfood”, where you are taking joy in your own misfortune as it relates to what you ate.
