I hope your day is perfect.

Screen captures from the movie Miss Congeniality. Host: "Describe your perfect date." Pagent contestant: "That's a tough one. I'd have to say April 25th. Because it's not too hot and not too cold. All you need is a light jacket."

Nice things to start my day today:

  • a long snap from my college kid about how awesome their yesterday was
  • notification of a Stars 2-1 OT playoff win
  • decent spring weather outside
  • extra time at the gym
  • Chick-Fil-A breakfast proteins

Come on, weekend, you’re only a day away…

Pushed my distance a bit this afternoon. Also, it’s sticky out there. Phew. #running

Good god this is frustrating. Dallas Stars have an amazing regular season, now they’re ready to go down 0-2 in their opening round series in the playoffs. Gonna be an early out and a really long offseason.

RIP Papa Frank. A life focused on ministry, a ministry focused on service to the poor and needy, the refugee and the immigrant? A guy could do a lot worse. Rest in peace and rise in glory.

Well, we can at least have confidence the Stars’ losing streak won’t go past 11 games. Question is whether they’ll muster any self respect to win one before then.

Living life dangerously and running the Ubuntu system upgrade on my VPS on a Friday night. One weird issue I had to debug but got it cleaned up and now I’m happy and up-to-date on 24.04.2 LTS.

A brief Good Friday reflection, from the vantage point of our troubled days.

Good Friday is to stand helplessly before imperial and religious power with no recourse. It is to recognize that the tragedies unfolding obviously before our eyes cannot be stopped by any well-argued point, any appeal to dignity or justice, any cry to heaven.

I felt all of this keenly as I was reading part of the Gospel text tonight at our Good Friday service. Lord, have mercy.
