2025 Reads: Middlemarch by George Eliot 📚

Ah, there’s fall finally coming. Just a couple weeks late.

Screenshot of weather forecast showing highs near 90 for the weekend but only 68 on Tuesday.

What a wonderful win for the #Cubs to start the wild card. Bullpen was magnificent, just enough hitting to get the job done. Counsell making every managerial move look easy.

Back in the office today after a 4-day weekend trip. Let’s get to it!

Taking a vacation day from work today - have a bunch to burn yet this year! Did a nice 5-mile run, now going along shopping with my wife. Later: platelet donation time. A lovely cool-ish fall day… beats being in the office.

Goodness, that’s my 68th book of the year and it’s not even the end of September. At this rate I will hit 90 books for the year, which would be the most of any year since we had kids. Guess this is what empty nest life will be like? (Youngest still home 2 more years, for the record.)

2025 Reads: In Cold Blood by Truman Capote 📚

My first time to read this. A classic for a reason. Capote’s ability to weave a compelling story where you know the end from the beginning is astounding.

After doing a more modern music-themed piece for my most recent cross-stitch, I’ve decided that mid-century modern album art is my sweet spot. Just finished the pattern for my next one, based on this cover. Need to pick up a couple thread colors tomorrow.

Album cover titled "Mambo for Cats", in a funky red, teal, and black color scheme.

Aja Wilson may be the WNBA MVP again, but Kelsey Mitchell is showing the Aces how it’s done today. Let’s go Fever!
