2025 Reads: Confessions of a Recovering Evangelical by Daniel Henderson 📚

2025 Reads: The Quiet American by Graham Greene 📚

Dunno if it was the slightly cooler temps or eating a banana before heading out, but that was a really solid run. Got to 4 miles in under 35 minutes! Pretty sure that’s a PR for me at 4 miles. 5k split was right at 26:00.

A map illustrating the run

A little cooler this morning but was still dripping like a saturated sponge after a 4-mile run. But now a little breakfast, a cup of coffee in my hand, and time to get started at work. Short week this week, too! I’ll take it.

2025 Reads: Meet Me at the Crossroads by Megan Giddings 📚

Partly soft speculative sci-fi; mostly a meditation on love, loss, and family. Quite lovely.

Currently reading: Far From The Tree by Andrew Solomon 📚

Wow, just read the first chapter of this and it’s already remarkable and quite insightful. It’s also not short. I’ll stick with it.

2025 Reads: A Country of Ghosts by Margaret Killjoy 📚

Read a book I really appreciated, sent an email to the author thanking him. Got a really lovely email in return a few days later. I should really do that more often.

2025 Reads: City of Nets by Otto Friedrich 📚

Not my favorite book of the year, but an interesting read nonetheless.

Trying to assemble a good running playlist makes it clear that my music library has a whole lot of indie, folk, jazz, and classical stuff and not nearly enough up-tempo rock music.
