This morning at church for All Saints we wrote names of departed beloved we wanted to remember.

Was really pulling for the Blue Jays but they just couldn’t get a hit when they needed one. Congrats to the Dodgers for hanging in there.

2025 Reads: Against the Machine by Paul Kingsnorth 📚

Oh man, a lot of thoughts. Really disappointed by the second half of the book. Blog post will have to wait until tomorrow.

Well, cancelled my YouTubeTV subscription. Activated Hulu+LiveTV. A minor hassle needing to create a new HuluDisneyEspn account; upside is I get the introductory rate for a few months!

As of last night YouTubeTV pulled all Disney & ESPN content thanks to a contract dispute. I’ve used YTTV for 6+ years, but they’re lucky that tomorrow’s sports I care about are on Fox and NBC. If it’s not resolved by early next week, I’m off to Hulu.

Paul Kingsnorth’s book Against The Machine is the most thought-provoking thing I’ve read in a good while.

Had good intentions of going to the gym this morning. Then I turned off my alarm and slept another hour. Guess I was tired.

Maybe after work?

Doing squats at the gym is always deceptive for me.

Never feel like I’ve pushed that hard at the time.

The next day: oof.

18 innings? Phew, glad I didn’t try to stay up and watch the end of the game last night. Tired enough as it is turning it off at 11:20p, going to the 12th inning, and doing today on 5.5 hours of sleep.

Even better after a full day at speech and debate: my daughter took first place in the spontaneous speech category! (You’re given a choice between 3 prompts, you have 2 minutes to prepare and then give a 5 minute speech on the topic… phew.)
