Our priest did a 2-week adult forum series on “the end times”. He started week 1 by setting the tone with R.E.M’s “It’s The End of the World As We Know It”.

If he’d been raised evangelical, he’d know that the actual End Times Theme Song is Larry Norman’s “I Wish We’d All Been Ready”.

Took the wife’s cast iron business to a local small-town farmers market this afternoon. Complete dud. 95F high and very few customers. Made one sale all day. Glad to be home tonight in my air-conditioned living room recliner.

Now this is what speculative sci-fi should be. Really enjoyed it.

My reaction to yesterday’s product announcements:

  • iPhone: just got a new one last year. A couple years from now the Air/Pro decision may be hard.
  • AirPods Pro: Will upgrade when my old ones die.
  • Watch Ultra 3: not enough upper from my Ultra 2 to tempt me.

Guess my wallet is safe.

Can’t figure out from the new iPhone pricing if they’re trying to push people to the new Air or the new Pro. People gonna want the good cameras or the crazy thin design? (I’m not sure which one I’d prefer at the moment, but that orange color is SWEEEEEET.)

Well, that was a treat: Ben Folds in concert tonight in Iowa City.

#Nebraska thoroughly trouncing Akron tonight, currently 68-0 mid-fourth quarter. This is how a decent team is supposed to whoop up on a low-conference tune-up opponent. But it’s been a while for Nebraska - last true blowout like this against a D-1 team was 2009, 55-0 vs. Louisiana.

22 years ago we bought our first house. Today we made the last payment to the mortgage company and own it free and clear.

Lots of challenges and blessings along the way, but today feels like a cause for celebration.

(This weekend I am re-roofing the shed. Homeownership, amirite? 😂 )
