In DC for work this week. Flight in went smoothly; got out for a 4-mile run mostly along the Mall; dinner at a wonderful Persian restaurant. Now time to do some ironing and crash.

Heckuva win for the Dallas Stars in OT on the PP. What an awful day for Mark Scheifele, who loses his dad this morning, scores WPGs only goal, but then takes the only penalty in the game. Dude gets a hug from ever single Stars player in the handshake line. Best tradition in sports.

Today: drove from Cedar Rapids to Lincoln. Loaded the college kid’s stuff in the car, drove back to Cedar Rapids. About 10 hours in the car… dang good to be home.

Mapping out a running route or two for while I’m in DC next week. Love running there.

Super nerdy and awesome: A Leap Year Check in Three Instructions. Dude shaves 75% off the average execution time of the is_leap_year() check!

Only works out to the year 5965232499, though, so make a note to update your libraries before that epoch…

“There is no cognitive dissonance when your entire worldview is built on confirmation bias masquerading as divine discernment.”

Oh damn. That single phrase from Stephanie Jo Warren might sum up the Evangelical brainwashing experience better than I’ve ever heard before.

On paper, a new album by Arcade Fire with production by Daniel Lanois should be like catnip for me. Giving it a listen this morning and it sounds great, but still feels kinda icky with the allegations about Win Butler’s abuse that have never been resolved.

Wow, Cubs walk it off, Stars beat Winnipeg… that’s a good sports night.
