2025 Reads: Playworld by Adam Ross 📚

The past few years I had forgotten how much I enjoy getting out and running. After running a 5k last Saturday and being out of town over the weekend, I got back in gear with a 5-miler on Wednesday and I’m champing at the bit to do at least a casual 5k this afternoon.

You know, the record is going on 30 years old, but Caedmon’s Call’s self-titled record is still a banger.

Led a workshop all day yesterday at work… day 2 of it today. It’s tiring, but it’s electric when you get the right people in the room and thoughts start sparking.

I mean, if you live in Story County, that’s a perfect license plate choice. Bravo.

2025 Reads: Fortune Favors the Dead by Stephen Spotswood 📚

The 5k was chilly and hilly but came in second in my age group! (To be fair, it was a small race.) My first 5k where the running surface was primarily “last year’s corn field”. Easy on the joints, but had to be alert for uneven running surfaces.

Beautiful sunshine for the 5k this morning, but it’s gonna be chilly. (44F at the moment, _might _ hit 50 by race time. Gotta figure out what to wear…

2025 Reads: Say Nothing by Patrick Radden Keefe 📚

Absolutely brilliant, harrowing account of The Troubles in Ireland. Probably the best thing I’ve read this year so far.

Almost to the end of April, the #Cubs have played the toughest schedule in the league so far and have a 3-game lead in the NL Central going into the weekend? This is pretty fun. Wonder how long it can last?
