Sam, thanks for digging up this old post and making a good point!

Whenever somebody wants to send me a copy of Keller's new book to review, I'll be happy to do so. :-) Seriously, though, I'm sure I'll get my hands on a copy sooner or later.

You know, Keller as Yoda nails it pretty well.
Here is the interesting part with saying something critical about a book from a Yoda...
When he is talking to pastors, Keller nails us right between the eyes like we're under a mind trick. When he preaches a sermon, he speaks to our own hearts and points even the most numb minister back to Jesus. When we want to get better at preaching the gospel to believers, he can always teach us more.
But when you say Reason for God is "underwhelming", and "here's hoping for something more fresh" you forget the most important thing;
Talking, Keller is not, to you.
If he is, its only from our third person vantage point the same way he preaches the gospel to non-believers in his sermons and at the same time shows the believers at Redeemer how to engage non believers. The book is not written for us. Get it?
Now, yesterday, Prodigal God came out, and its written to address us first, and nonbelievers get to stand on the side and listen in. Review this one, and fire again.
