Ha! I'm even subscribed to your photos, Chris.

And yes, photos of your girls will attract comments. But so do posts about camera gear. ;)

Sooo, why are you going to China Rebecca and where?

I don't imagine Reba will be back around to answer, so I'll answer for her - she and her DTS team in Panama are going to China for a mission outreach. I'm looking forward to hearing all about it.

So … what kind of glass are you shooting those with?

So far, the only lens I have is the basic 18-70mm lens that came with the D70s. I'll have to prove to myself for a while that I'm really gonna stick with the photography before I can justify purchasing too many more lenses. :-)

[And where are you posting photos? Do you have a Flickr account?]

I do have a Flickr account, but I don't use it consistently. As Jason noted, I used PicasaWeb this morning strictly for the ability to do it quick'n'dirty.

Chris: You’re daughters are beautiful. Good job controlling the DOF on the last picture especially.

Thanks, Jason. Anything I accomplished in taking these pics was completely by accident - I'm really still trying to figure out where are the controls are and what they do. :-) I did get what looks to be a pretty decent photography book from the library last night, I'll work my way through it. I am sort of familiar with the rule of thirds but haven't really thought about it enough. And the girls move around so much, it's a trick to frame them very well. :-)

Wow, 7 comments in a couple hours! I guess I should post pictures of the girls more often. :-)

Thanks, Jason. :)

And yes ... Ro3ds will produce a lot of great shots. You can certainly over-use it and become too bound to it, but there's a lot of value in using the brain's physiology against it. I mean, the second photo of Laura is probably the closest you've got to it here: her curly hair is at the top-right Ro3ds point, and the chessboard is at the bottom-left. That photo is the one my eye is most drawn to.

Geof: IIRC it's the 18-80 DX lens. I've already suggested a 50mm prime to him. ;-) Also, the pics are on picasa, so if you're looking for EXIF, click on the pic, and on the far right hand side, there's a link called 'more info'. You can get what you want there.

Chris: You're daughters are beautiful. Good job controlling the DOF on the last picture especially.

One thing that I wish I had known earlier is something called the 'Rule of Thirds'. Mentally draw a tic-tac-toe board on the picture you're taking. It tends to make pictures look better if you're main point of interest is at one of the places where the lines of the tic-tac-toe board cross. This isn't an absolute rule, but if you can keep it in mind, you're pictures will get better.

The air went out of my house before I let out an "Awwwwwww."

So ... what kind of glass are you shooting those with? f1.8/50mm or something like an f2.8/35-105mm? Nerds like me want the EXIF data!

[And where are you posting photos? Do you have a Flickr account?]

Oh, and by the way I agree with Rebecca! Your new camera takes great shots but it's the subjects that make it look soooo good.
Can't wait to see them!

Love to you all!
